The final boss is the Nerd's arch-enemy, Fred Fuchs. The final level, Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts, is a strobey, techno rainbow splattered stage and is designed to give the player literally no time to rest, as an unlimited amount of traps and enemies are in every direction 24/7. Assholevania (a parody of most stages from Castlevania), Happy Fun Candy Time, Future Fuckballs 2010 (a parody of the false future of Street Fighter 2010), Blizzard of Balls (a Christmas themed level in the snowy mountains of the North Pole), Thy Farts Consumed (Hell itself with the Devil as the final boss), Dungeons and Dickholes, Beat It and Eat It (a parody of the Atari porn game with the same name), and Boo! Suddenly, his friends are sucked into the television as the Nerd successfully escapes the vortex by retreating into the basement. Legend has it, she hung up on the first interviewer she spoke to about the record-the question was about Shelton’s new partner, Gwen Stefani-and decided that she would do no press surrounding the album, letting the music speak for itself. For Lambert, redemption comes from buying a cheap pair of plastic sunglasses, by spending late nights alone at the bar, in knowing that she alone controls her destiny. Its songs are torch ballads and highway anthems with a live band that feels borne of late night jam sessions, raw and unglamorous. Her ambitious double album The Weight of These Wings carries on in a grand tradition of messy relationship statements: It has the grit of Tom Petty’s Wildflowers and the uncertainty of Bruce Springsteen’s Tunnel of Love, wrapped up in Lambert’s fiery, down-home charm. But when they divorced in 2015, the breakup encouraged her to go down a darker, more existential path. Miranda Lambert: The Weight of These Wings (2016)įor the first half of the decade, Miranda Lambert was a country superstar with a string of radio hits, a recurring spot on The Voice, and a picture-perfect marriage to fellow singer Blake Shelton. Listen/Buy: Rough Trade | Apple Music | Tidalġ89. It's music that rewards close attention in an age where that is increasingly rare. The wistfulness is often self-referential, as on “Snowed In at Wheeler Street,” a tale of star-crossed lovers with lyrics threaded with references to her old songs. The material is more wistful: Where Bush’s best singles have often been about having something beautiful that you’re about to lose, much of 50 Words for Snow addresses things that are already lost. 50 Words for Snow, named for the myth that the Inuit have such a vocabulary, boasts all of her trademark magical realism, fantastical lovers, and far-flung settings, but the songs are more quietly ambitious than past works-almost like chamber pieces. And she does so wide-eyed and full-heartedly, even painstakingly. We think as people enjoy watching Trip and watching her go through the story as an enemy, they'll really appreciate her as one of the enemies. On Kate Bush’s only studio album of the decade, she sings about catching a snowflake out of the sky, warning a hunted yeti, and sleeping with a dissolving snowman. "We really wanted to present it in a way that fits in that Classic storytelling way of just showing the actions of the character and still being a cool character with all these interesting traits. "We're in the Classic format for storytelling as well, so we're not going to be using voiceover, we're not going to be having long monologues about this and that," Iizuka told Game Informer. Instead, the story will play out the way that it does in classic 2D games like Sonic the Hedgehog 3. From everything revealed thus far, it seems Trip will play a pivotal part in the narrative for Sonic Superstars, though players should not expect to see the kind of voice acting that appears in games like Sonic Frontiers. Ohshima is the co-creator of Sonic, and designed both the character and Dr. Trip was co-created by Iizuka and Naoto Ohshima. The first thing I think people will be thinking is, 'Who is she, and why is she a super strong enemy? What's going on?' We wanted to introduce the character in that way to make it different from how enemies have always been presented in Sonic games." "When we presented Trip in the very beginning, I think she even falls on her face in the very first scene that you see her in. "The team wanted to show that Trip is not that usual enemy, and we wanted to introduce her in a way that's not the obvious 'Oh, I'm super strong' way," Iizuka told Game Informer. Speaking to Game Informer, Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka revealed that Trip won't seem like an immediate threat when players first meet her. Right now, details surrounding the character are minimal, but Trip is based on the real-life sungazer lizard, which is known in Japan as an "armored lizard." That name inspired Trip's design, which makes the character look like she's wearing a full suit of armor. However, the game will also see the addition of a new character named Trip. When Sonic Superstars releases this fall, the game will feature two returning Sonic the Hedgehog villains: Dr. Songs like “Still Feels So Good” and “So Sexy” showcased the Chicago MC’s ability to balance speed with depth, while introspective tracks like “Hope” and “Sunshine” broadened the album’s spectrum. Aided by Kanye West’s stellar production, the album’s lead single “Slow Jamz” struck a chord with the mainstream as swift as Twista’s lyrical prowess. Twista - Kamikazeĭespite delays and initial false starts, Twista’s Kamikaze turned up as a satisfying testament to the richness of Chicago’s rap landscape. From Kanye’s culturally impactful debut The College Dropout to Saba’s deeply introspective Care for Me, here are the top 25 best Chicago rap albums of all time. Lupe’s Tetsuo & Youth reminds us of the power of creative autonomy in the face of industry adversities, a sentiment echoed in the alternative rap renaissance spurred by Common’s Like Water for Chocolate. Twista’s Adrenaline Rush embodies the Midwest’s lyrical velocity, painting a vivid picture of life in the heartland, while Common’s early masterpiece Resurrection continues to resonate with its timeless jazz-infused beats and conscious lyrics.įor some, the personal narratives and classic hip-hop and R&B vibes of Noname’s Telefone evoke an emotive journey through the Chicago night, while Kanye’s groundbreaking sophomore Late Registration offers a more mainstream, yet provocative exploration of societal issues. Meanwhile, Crucial Conflict’s debut album The Final Tic, introduced an unconventional fusion of hip hop and country motifs, marking a unique divergence in Chicago’s musical narrative. When you think of Chicago rap, it’s easy to get lost in the jaw-dropping 808s of Chief Keef’s Finally Rich, an album that shattered expectations and cemented Keef’s place in the rap mainstream. The music that sprouts from Chicago’s fertile rap soil is as varied as the city itself, each album telling a unique story in its own distinct language. As the birthplace of some of rap’s most iconic names, the Windy City has continually served as a creative nexus for a diverse array of artists – from the soul-searching consciousness of Common, to the audacious genius of Kanye West, to the wordplay wizardry of Lupe Fiasco. Let's request a new (free) loopback device: sudo losetup -f Let's enable enable the loopback: sudo modprobe loop We do this using the loopback-functionality of Linux. This is why we first need to create a device for the image. GParted operates on devices, not simple files like images. In order to shrink the image, GParted is going to be used along the first part of the answer. GParted is an application typically used to manage partition tables and filesystems. img you want to shrink ( myimage.img in this example) The secret is to use standard Linux tools and instruments: GParted, fdisk and truncate. Having a myimage.img bigger then the hardware support (if it is smaller there should be no problem however, using the same strategy, you can better fit the image in the hardware support). For example: umount /dev/sdc1Ĭreate a copy of the whole sd card with all the partitions unmounted dd if=/dev/sdc of=/path/to/file/myimage.img Unmount all partitions of the device you want to copy on your pc. Use lsblk to see which devices are available and if their partitions are mounted Following the full solution in order to not lose the answer.Ī preliminary step consists in cloning the SD card in your PC: The key information was the use of the command truncate. I re-propose the same answer here, it can be useful. I originally posted the same answer here, on StackExchange Ask Ubuntu. # qemu-img convert -f raw -O vmdk foo.img foo.vmdkīut if it's going to be written to a real disk again, you have to convert it back to a raw image. # qemu-img convert -f raw -O qcow2 foo.img foo.qcow Note that this still requires you to prepare the image by cleaning the free space using the above method. qcow2 for Qemu, VDI for VirtualBox, or VMDK for VMware. with a virtual machine – is to convert the raw image to one of the image formats used by virtualization software e.g. Note that the output device (sda) must be of sufficient size to fit the original image, otherwise data will be lost or corrupted.Īn alternative method, if you want to keep using the image – e.g. This will uncompress it 'live': # cat | gunzip | dd of=/dev/sda Note that you must uncompress the image when writing it back to disk. Even at lowest compression levels, a long series of zeros will compress well: # ls -s Then compress it with a tool like gzip or xz. # losetup -find -partscan foo.imgĭd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/filler conv=fsync bs=1Mĭd: error writing ‘/mnt/filler’: No space left on device Otherwise, an easy way to achieve this is to create a huge file on the disk, containing only null bytes, then delete it. This works on loop devices in a similar way to TRIM on SSDs unused areas are replaced with zeros and the underyling. With recent kernels (3.2 or later), it's easiest to do so by mounting each partition of the loop image, then issuing a discard using fstrim on the mountpoint. First make sure the free space is actually empty, and doesn't contain leftovers of deleted files. These are the results, it would seem, of growing up-the same complicated process that gave Kenney the grist for these 10 songs about figuring out what’s next. On Sucker’s Lunch, Kenney gets closer to the core of that idea than ever before thanks to sharper writing, stronger hooks, a versatile voice, and a continued partnership with friends who allow her to try new approaches. Such transmutation is the enduring lesson of Kenney’s small catalogue so far: Turn life’s impasses into empathetic rock songs, little anthems for overcoming self-renewing heartache and exhaustion and anxiety. And “Be That Man” springs from a gothic country creak into big, open-hearted rock, its chorus a perfect nugget of would-be AM Gold that needs no complications. Kurt Wagner-for almost 30 years, the maestro of Lambchop’s own exquisite moodiness-deadpans the verses alongside Kenney, offering a cross-generational reminder that exasperation is a preexisting condition. The band renders a wonderfully blue country shuffle beneath them, with luminous guitar harmonies that suggest Nels Cline and drums that feel like slumped shoulders. “Sucker,” for instance, surveys our modern malaise with prismatic snapshots of political fractures, mental fatigue, and endless worry. Likewise, the surging and glorious “White Window Light” captures the uneasy excitement of committing to new love even if it might backfire, of “jumping in the water without plans.”ĭespite all its lyrical prevarication, there’s a newfound directness to much of Sucker’s Lunch, a definitive step beyond the self-aware cleverness of Kenney’s earlier records. The sighing organs and yearning guitars of “Jenny” perfectly capture the bittersweet sting of remembering your past and hoping for a better future. Where Wye Oak’s songs often seem purposefully resilient, designed like body armor meant to safeguard the feelings they ferry, these 10 songs wear their feelings on the skin. Many of their chief hallmarks are here-the way the harmonies and keys pirouette over lumbering drums during “Sugar Sweat,” the emphatic rhythmic punctuation that ends “Tell You Everything,” the euphoric and arcing repetition of “Double Hearted.” If you landed on that last song without checking the title or the credits, you might assume Kenney is simply a Wye Oak acolyte-or that the band itself sounds different this time around.īut Sucker’s Lunch inverts Wye Oak’s general approach. It’s tempting to hear Sucker’s Lunch as another extension of Wye Oak, a full-length collaboration with a novel singer rather than a joint production. They lend Kenney a righteous heft here, their experience fortifying songs that, in the past, might have felt wispy. Aside from Wye Oak’s own records, it’s the first album the pair have produced together. For Sucker’s Lunch, though, Kenney worked not only with Wasner and a cast of her own past collaborators but also with Andy Stack, the other multi-instrumentalist half of Wye Oak. Their rapport shaped that album’s sense of discovery, illustrated by a crosswalk sample that became an unlikely and compulsory hook. Kenney seems to have found both a mentor and friend in Jenn Wasner, the Wye Oak and Flock of Dimes linchpin who produced Perfect Shapes. |
